    Show Your Audit Committee Readiness

This role sits on a public sector audit committee, so the hiring panel will be looking for more than just a CV—they want proof you can navigate government oversight and risk frameworks with integrity.

    1. Highlight your risk and audit experience: On your CV, lead with specific audit committee or risk management roles. Use numbers—like the size of budgets you've overseen or the number of audits you've led. For example, 'Chaired audit committee for a KES 500M budget' carries weight.

    2. Show your understanding of public service: Mention any experience with government ministries, state corporations, or regulatory bodies. If you've worked with the Public Finance Management Act or other relevant legislation, say so.

    3. Prove your professional standing: List your professional body membership (e.g., ICPAK, IIA) and your membership number. The posting requires good standing, so be ready to provide evidence.

    4. Prepare for integrity checks: The role requires Chapter Six compliance. Have your clearance documents (EACC, KRA, HELB, etc.) ready. Mention in your application that you are ready to provide them.

    5. Tailor your CV to the committee role: Emphasize governance, oversight, and strategic risk management rather than operational tasks. Use phrases like 'board-level reporting' and 'internal control frameworks'.

    6. Expect scenario questions: In the interview, you may be asked how you'd handle a conflict of interest or a fraud case. Prepare concrete examples from your past roles that show your ethical decision-making.

    7. Know the Ministry's context: Research the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection's mandate and recent audit reports. Mentioning specific challenges they face shows you've done your homework.

    8. Be precise in your application: Follow the submission instructions exactly—sealed envelope, correct address, and deadline. Any deviation could cost you the opportunity.
