    Master the End-to-End Shipment Flow

This role is about orchestrating containers, trucking, and bulk movements across borders. Hiring managers will probe how you've handled disruptions, coordinated with 3PLs, and kept systems accurate under pressure.

    1. Show process design wins: On your CV, highlight a time you built or simplified a workflow that cut errors or improved turnaround. Quantify the impact—like reducing shipment delays by 20%—to prove you're not just a doer but a designer.

    2. Prove system fluency: Be ready to discuss your experience with ERP or TMS platforms. Mention specific modules you've used for inventory, documentation, or reporting. If you've automated a manual step, that's gold.

    3. Prepare a stakeholder story: You'll bridge trading, treasury, and trade finance. Have a story where you aligned conflicting priorities across departments. Show how you communicated clearly and got buy-in.

    4. Know your compliance basics: Brush up on Kenya's import/export regulations and Incoterms. You might be asked how you'd ensure a shipment clears customs without delays. Show you understand the paperwork.

    5. Lead with a people example: Since you'll supervise a team, prepare a leadership anecdote. How did you develop a team member or handle underperformance? Emphasize your coaching style and accountability.

    6. Think international: This role deals with global suppliers and clients. Highlight any experience with multi-country logistics, currency issues, or time zones. Show you're comfortable with the complexity.

    7. Stress-test your problem-solving: Expect scenario questions like 'A shipment is stuck at port—what do you do?' Walk through your step-by-step approach: assess, communicate, escalate, and implement a fix. Show you're calm and systematic.

    8. Ask sharp questions: In the interview, ask about the team's current pain points, the systems they use, and how success is measured. This shows you're already thinking like their operations lead.
