Master the Art of Budget and M&E Alignment

This role sits at the intersection of planning, budgeting, and performance tracking. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can connect strategic goals to measurable outcomes and defend those links in writing.

1. Show your grip on MTEF and PER: Be ready to explain how you've prepared or contributed to budget documents like Medium-Term Expenditure Frameworks or Public Expenditure Reviews. Even if it was in a class project or internship, walk them through the process and the logic behind resource allocation.

2. Prove your M&E fluency: Monitoring and evaluation is core here. Highlight any experience with indicators, data collection, or reporting frameworks. If you've used tools like logical frameworks or theory of change, mention them.

3. Demonstrate your data skills: The job involves compiling and analyzing data. Showcase your proficiency in Excel, SPSS, or other data tools. Give a concrete example of how you turned raw data into a report or presentation.

4. Connect workplans to budgets: Expect questions on how you'd align departmental workplans with budget ceilings. Practice explaining how you'd prioritize activities when resources are tight.

5. Prepare for policy questions: You'll be involved in developing policies and SOPs. Brush up on the policy cycle and be ready to discuss how you'd gather input from stakeholders.
