Residential Security Equipment Technician (RSET) - All Interested Applicants

The Residential Security Equipment Technician (RSET) ensures residential security hardware, alarm systems, and other security equipment are properly installed and functioning for all USG-owned/leased residential properties in Nairobi. The incumbent inspects door contacts, passive infra-red sensors, glass break sensors, panic buttons, and intercom systems to determine functionality prior to occupancy. They also perform final quality inspections before occupancy of safe-haven door and grillwork installations performed by contractors.

• Repairs, installs, and services security alarm systems for all U.S. mission residences in Kenya.
• Assists the ARSO and RSC with residential security issues such as malfunctioning security systems, grills, locks, and conducting residential security surveys.
• Assists in the make-ready process and the return of the property back to the landlord including the installation/removal of residential alarm systems, video cameras, and alarm monitoring equipment.
• May be responsible for installation and maintenance of alarm transmitters and equipment for a Central Alarm Monitoring System (CAMS).
• Oversees CAMS operators and maintains data in CAMS software.
• Assists in assessing residences meet updated residential security standards.
• Assists with residential security funds and prepares purchase orders for security equipment/hardware.
• Coordinates with alarm, safe-haven door, and grillwork contractors for installations.
• Conducts quality inspections to verify equipment meets RSO residential security standards.
• Inspects and troubleshoots residential security upgrades, including safe-haven doors, security lighting, and alarm systems.
• Reviews residential security invoices from contractors.
• Makes appointments with occupants to identify and repair security equipment problems and provide alarm briefings.
• Provides 24-hour assistance for technical failures of security equipment.
• Assists in immediate repair to residences victimized by burglary or attempted break-ins.
• Monitors latest trends in burglary and home invasion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Completion of high school is required.
• Two years' experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of all electronic security products and knowledge of physical security construction e.g. grillwork, masonry, and safe-haven doors is required.
• All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Security certificate; or Public trust security clearance.
