You will maintain accurate security records, guide staff on security procedures, and support the wider Facilities team on health and safety compliance and emergency preparedness. This is a full-time, fixed-term employee position with an expected duration of 6 months.

    • Issue and manage keycards or access codes, and oversee visitor sign-in and access procedures.
    • Conduct routine patrols of facility premises to deter unauthorized access and ensure the safety and security of occupants.
    • Respond to security incidents and alarms promptly, investigate root causes, and take appropriate action to address security breaches or threats.
    • Provide assistance during emergency situations, such as evacuations or security incidents, by following established protocols and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and access control activities.

    • Support the development of security policies, procedures, and standards, helping ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement.
    • Assist in formulating and updating safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect current regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.
    • Promote a culture of safety throughout the office by fostering awareness, accountability, and engagement among employees.
    • Support risk assessments and vulnerability analysis to identify potential emergencies and help develop mitigation strategies.

Show Your Security Operations Chops in the Interview

This role is all about protecting people and premises, so expect the hiring team to probe how you handle real incidents, not just your CV. They'll want to see that you can stay calm under pressure and think on your feet.

    1. Master the access control story: Be ready to walk through a time you managed access control systems, issued keycards, or handled a visitor management hiccup. Detail the exact steps you took and how you kept records accurate.

    2. Prove your CCTV fluency: Don't just say you know CCTV—describe a situation where you spotted something suspicious on camera and what you did next. Mention any software you've used, like Milestone or Hikvision.

    3. Prepare for incident response questions: Have a clear example of a security incident you responded to, from alarm to resolution. Explain how you investigated the root cause and what actions you took to prevent recurrence.

    4. Show your audit mindset: Talk about a security audit or risk assessment you've conducted. Outline the framework you used, what you found, and how you prioritized improvements.

    5. Highlight your liaison experience: If you've worked with law enforcement or emergency services, share a specific collaboration. Emphasize how you maintained professional relationships and coordinated responses.

    6. Communicate your safety culture approach: This role involves guiding staff on procedures. Give an example of how you've trained or briefed employees on security protocols, and how you made it stick.

    7. Know your health and safety basics: Brush up on Kenyan office safety regulations, like OSHA. Be ready to discuss how you've ensured compliance in a previous role, even if it was basic.

    8. Ask smart questions: Prepare questions about the office's current security setup, incident history, and how the role collaborates with Facilities. It shows you're already thinking like their next manager.
