How to Apply: Send your CV only to recruitment@careeroptionsafricagroup.com by 31st August 2026 with the subject heading 'SALES EXECUTIVE-KENYA'. Indicate current, last or expected salary in the CV. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and qualified candidates called for an interview as soon as their CVs are received.

Master the Retail Route: From Supermarket Aisles to Social Feeds

This role is about owning a route and turning every stop into an order. Hiring managers will look for proof you can open new accounts, keep shelves stocked, and keep the brand alive online — all while hitting targets.

    1. Show your route plan: On your CV, detail a typical day or week in your previous sales role. Mention the number of outlets you visited, how you prioritized them, and how you kept records of orders and stock levels. This shows you understand the operational side of retail sales.

    2. Prove your customer base: Since an existing customer base is mandatory, list the types of outlets you already have relationships with (e.g., minimarts, supermarkets) and the regions you cover. If possible, include the approximate number of active accounts you managed.

    3. Highlight FMCG specifics: Use keywords like 'stock replenishment', 'order booking', 'distributor management', and 'retail execution' in your CV and cover letter. Give a concrete example of how you improved order frequency or reduced out-of-stock situations in a previous role.

    4. Show social media savvy: This role includes managing social media pages. Prepare examples of content you have created or campaigns you have run. If you have grown a page's following or engagement, mention those numbers.

    5. Prepare for a route ride-along: Be ready to demonstrate your sales pitch on the spot. Practice a 30-second introduction about the product, how you would approach a new minimart owner, and how you would handle objections like 'we already have a supplier'.

    6. Know your numbers: Be prepared to discuss sales targets you have met or exceeded in the past. Have a clear story about a time you turned a challenging territory into a growth area.

    7. Understand the informal market: Show that you know how to navigate the informal retail sector — from small kiosks to open-air markets. Mention any experience with cash sales, credit management, or building trust with informal traders.

    8. Show collaboration and follow-through: This role works with production and ICT teams. Give an example of how you shared customer feedback with other departments to improve a product or service. Emphasize your ability to communicate clearly and follow up on tasks.
