    Additional Information

How to Apply: Interested and qualified candidates should apply via the Career Options Africa Ltd website: www.careeroptionsafricagroup.com.

Master the Retail Route: From Supermarkets to Minimarts

This role is about owning a route and growing orders from every outlet on it. Hiring managers will look for proof you can open new accounts, keep existing ones restocked, and use social media to keep the pipeline warm.

    1. Map your customer base: Before applying, list the retail outlets you already serve. Be specific about names, locations, and the volume you moved. That existing base is non-negotiable, so show it clearly on your CV.

    2. Show FMCG fluency: Talk about your experience with stock replenishment, order cycles, and distributor relationships. Use numbers: how many outlets you serviced, how often, and what your sales targets looked like.

    3. Prove your social media chops: This job expects you to manage the company's pages. Prepare examples of content you've created or campaigns you've run. If you have a portfolio, bring it.

    4. Understand the informal market: Demonstrate you know how kiosks, minimarts, and open-air markets operate. Mention any experience with cash sales, credit terms, or route planning in these settings.

    5. Prepare for a territory test: Be ready to discuss how you'd approach a new route: how you'd prioritize outlets, set call cycles, and track orders. Think about the logistics of covering Nairobi or Eastern region.

    6. Highlight collaboration: You'll work with production and ICT teams. Give examples of how you've coordinated with other departments to solve problems or improve processes.

    7. Practice your pitch: You'll likely be asked to sell something on the spot. Practice a concise pitch for a food product, focusing on benefits to a retailer and how you'd close the order.

    8. Show you're results-driven: Quantify your achievements. Instead of 'met targets', say 'exceeded monthly sales by 20% for six consecutive months'. That's the language this hiring team wants to hear.
