    Job Description

To drive subscriber revenue and commercial growth across African markets by managing strategic telecommunications and distribution partnerships, leading regional marketing initiatives, and using data-driven content and audience strategies to improve customer acquisition, conversion, and retention.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage strategic telecommunications and digital distribution partnerships, including regular performance reviews, commercial proposals, contract renewals, and negotiations.
    • Set, monitor, and achieve revenue targets across markets, including subscriber growth, average revenue per customer, and customer churn.
    • Lead and coordinate regional marketing, partnerships, social media, and community teams, ensuring clear targets and accountability.
    • Develop and implement content and distribution strategies focused on customer acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention.
    • Identify and develop new strategic partnership opportunities with telecommunications providers, billing partners, technology platforms, and other distribution channels.
    • Provide audience, market, and creative insights to support paid customer acquisition campaigns and broader growth initiatives.
    • Work closely with Product and Finance teams on commercial reporting, pricing, revenue performance, and customer data.
    • Represent the organisation in senior commercial discussions and negotiations with strategic external partners.
    • Monitor market trends, customer behaviour, and competitive developments to identify opportunities for business growth.
    • Develop data-driven recommendations to improve subscriber revenue, customer retention, and overall commercial performance.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Sales, or a related field.
    • Proven experience managing telecommunications, digital distribution, technology, or strategic commercial partnerships within African markets.
    • Demonstrated experience in commercial negotiations, partnership development, and revenue growth.
    • Strong understanding of subscriber and growth metrics, including customer acquisition, average revenue per customer, churn, conversion, engagement, and retention.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret Google Analytics, revenue dashboards, customer data, and marketing performance reports.
    • Ability to draw actionable conclusions from data and use insights to guide commercial and marketing decisions.
    • Strong understanding of content marketing, audience development, social media, and customer engagement strategies.
    • Proven ability to lead and manage distributed or regional teams with clear targets and accountability.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
    • Experience working with digital, mobile, subscription-based, or technology businesses is an advantage.
    • Strong analytical and metrics fluency is essential, with the ability to independently interpret subscriber, revenue, content, social media, and growth data and translate insights into clear commercial actions.
    • The ideal candidate should combine strong commercial partnership experience, analytical capability, content marketing knowledge, and regional leadership skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and make data-driven decisions that directly support subscriber and revenue growth.

Show Commercial Partnership Wins Before You Talk Strategy

This role sits at the intersection of telecom partnerships, subscriber growth, and data-driven marketing. Hiring managers will probe how you've actually moved revenue and churn numbers, not just how well you present slides.

    1. Quantify your partnership impact: On your CV, lead with numbers: revenue growth percentages, subscriber acquisition costs, churn reduction, or deal sizes you negotiated. For example, 'Grew partner-driven subscribers by 25% in 18 months across three African markets.'

    2. Prepare a partnership negotiation story: Be ready to walk through a specific negotiation where you secured better terms, renewed a contract, or turned a stalled deal around. Structure it with the situation, your approach, and the measurable outcome.

    3. Show your analytics fluency: Expect questions on Google Analytics, revenue dashboards, and churn metrics. Bring a sample dashboard or report you've built or used to make a decision. Explain how you turned a data insight into a commercial action.

    4. Demonstrate regional leadership: This role leads distributed teams across Africa. Have examples of how you've managed remote or multi-country teams, set targets, and held people accountable without daily oversight.

    5. Connect content to revenue: Be ready to explain how content and social media strategies drive acquisition and retention. Show a campaign you ran that moved a business metric, not just engagement likes.

    6. Know the telecom and mobile landscape: Brush up on trends like mobile money, data bundles, and digital distribution in Africa. Mention how you've worked with telcos or similar billing partners to unlock growth.

    7. Prepare for stakeholder management questions: You'll engage senior internal and external stakeholders. Have a story about influencing a C-level executive or managing a difficult partner relationship with a positive result.

    8. Ask sharp questions: In your interview, ask about the company's current subscriber base, churn rates, and partnership portfolio. This shows you're already thinking like a commercial owner, not just a candidate.
