Master the Customs and Compliance Screen

This role sits at the intersection of transport logistics and customs compliance, so expect the hiring panel to probe your hands-on knowledge of T1s, Exit Notes, and regional transit rules. They want a manager who can keep cargo moving without tripping over statutory requirements.

    1. Show your customs fluency: Be ready to walk through a recent example where you handled T1 documentation or coordinated with KRA or URA. Mention specific systems you've used and how you ensured accuracy under tight deadlines.

    2. Prove your fleet optimization wins: Quantify a time you improved truck allocation or route planning. For instance, say 'cut empty miles by 15%' or 'reduced fuel costs by 10%' if you have real numbers.

    3. Prepare a transporter management story: Describe how you evaluated a transporter's performance, addressed a service failure, or renegotiated rates. Highlight your ability to balance cost and reliability.

    4. Demonstrate ERP and TMS savvy: If you've used SAP, Oracle, or a dedicated TMS, give a concrete example of how you used it to track shipments or generate reports. If not, emphasize your quick learning curve.

    5. Align your CV with the KPIs: Use keywords like 'fleet utilization', 'on-time delivery', 'transport cost per unit', and 'customs compliance' to mirror the job description and pass any automated screening.

    6. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect questions like 'A shipment is stuck at the border due to missing documentation – what do you do?' Outline a step-by-step response that shows you can troubleshoot and communicate with stakeholders.

    7. Show leadership readiness: Since the role involves coaching a team, have a brief example of how you developed a junior staff member or resolved a team conflict. Emphasize your commitment to accountability.

    8. Ask sharp questions: Inquire about the current fleet size, the mix of owned vs. third-party transporters, and the biggest operational challenge the team faces. This shows strategic thinking and genuine interest.
