Show Your Payments and DFS Research Chops

This role sits at the intersection of consulting, data, and digital finance. Hiring managers will look for proof you can turn raw data into clear, client-ready insights and that you genuinely understand the payments landscape in Africa.

    1. Tailor your CV to the role: Highlight any experience with payments, digital financial services, or financial inclusion. Use specific examples of research or data analysis you have done, even if from academic projects or internships.

    2. Prepare a portfolio of your work: If you have written reports, literature reviews, or data visualizations, bring them to the interview. Show how you structure findings and communicate complex ideas simply.

    3. Brush up on the payments ecosystem: Know the key players, trends, and challenges in digital payments in Kenya and East Africa. Be ready to discuss mobile money, fintechs, and regulatory issues.

    4. Practice your analytical thinking: Expect case questions or problem-solving exercises. Walk through your approach logically, showing how you break down a problem and use data to inform decisions.

    5. Show your consulting mindset: Emphasize your ability to work in teams, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively. Give examples of how you've handled pressure or tight timelines.

    6. Demonstrate your writing skills: Since the role involves producing research outputs, be ready to share writing samples. Make sure they are clear, concise, and well-structured.

    7. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the team's current projects, the types of clients they serve, and how they measure success. This shows genuine interest and helps you assess fit.

    8. Follow up professionally: After the interview, send a thank-you email reiterating your interest and summarizing why you're a good fit. Keep it brief and professional.
