Show Production Leadership That Moves Metrics

This role sits at the heart of the factory floor, where planning, quality, and safety collide. Hiring managers will be looking for someone who can read a production dashboard and explain exactly how they'll move the numbers.

    1. Quantify your production wins: On your CV, use numbers to show your impact. Instead of 'managed production line', write 'oversaw line producing 10,000 units/day, achieving 98% on-time delivery'. This gives immediate proof of your ability to meet targets.

    2. Speak ISO fluently: The posting explicitly mentions ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001. Be ready to discuss how you've implemented or maintained these standards. Give a concrete example of an audit you passed or a corrective action you led.

    3. Prepare a leadership story: You'll be supervising team leaders, so prepare a story about a time you motivated a team through a tough production period. Focus on how you communicated the goal and what you did to keep morale high.

    4. Show cross-functional collaboration: The role liaises with Engineering, Purchasing, QA, Warehouse, and HR. Have an example ready of a time you worked with another department to solve a production bottleneck. This proves you can navigate internal politics.

    5. Understand cost reduction: The posting mentions discretionary goals for cost reduction. Think about a project you led that saved money or reduced waste. Quantify the savings if possible, like 'reduced material waste by 15% through process tweaks'.

    6. Brush up on continuous improvement: Be ready to discuss tools like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. Even if you haven't used them formally, show you understand the mindset and give an example of a small improvement you made on the job.

    7. Prepare for scenario questions: Expect questions like 'How would you handle a sudden machine breakdown?' or 'How do you prioritize when sales forecasts change?' Practice structured answers that show your decision-making process.

    8. Research SC Johnson's values: They're a family-owned company with a strong culture. Show you've done your homework by mentioning their commitment to safety, quality, and community. This demonstrates genuine interest.
