Show You Can Handle Claims Data Without Breaking a Sweat

Claims work is all about precision and calm under pressure. Hiring managers for this role will be looking for proof you can verify documents, spot inconsistencies, and keep records clean even when deadlines bite.

    1. Lead with your Excel skills: On your CV, list specific Excel functions you know (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation) and give an example of how you used them to manage claims or similar data. If you have a sample report or dashboard you built, mention it.

    2. Show you understand the claims process: Walk through a time you verified a claim or processed paperwork from start to finish. Talk about how you checked for completeness, flagged issues, and followed up with field teams.

    3. Prove your attention to detail: Give a concrete example of a time you caught an error that others missed. It could be a data entry mistake, a missing document, or a discrepancy in a report.

    4. Prepare for field coordination questions: Since the role involves working with Field Officers, be ready to talk about how you've communicated with remote teams or managed information coming from multiple sources.

    5. Know the basics of Human-Wildlife Conflict: Even if you're not an expert, show you've done your homework. Mention any knowledge of HWC schemes in Kenya or similar compensation programs.

    6. Highlight your reporting skills: Be ready to explain how you structure reports, what metrics you track, and how you present findings to supervisors or stakeholders.

    7. Be ready for a practical test: Many claims roles include a short Excel or data-entry test during the interview. Practice cleaning a messy dataset or building a simple summary table beforehand.

    8. Ask smart questions: When it's your turn, ask about the claims volume, the tools they use, and how they measure success in the role. It shows you're thinking about the work, not just the paycheck.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
