Show Your Dynamics 365 Depth Beyond the Buzzwords
This role is about owning the solution end-to-end, not just writing code. Hiring managers will probe how you've handled requirements gathering, ALM, and integrations in real projects.
1. Map your experience to their stack: Highlight specific Dynamics 365 CE modules you've customized, plug-ins you've built, and integrations you've delivered. Use concrete examples like 'built a custom workflow activity in C# that automated lead scoring' to show hands-on depth.
2. Prepare a portfolio of your work: Bring screenshots or a demo of a Power App or PCF control you've developed. Walk through the business problem, your design, and the outcome — this shows you think beyond code.
3. Brush up on ALM practices: Expect questions on solution packaging, environment strategy, and Azure DevOps pipelines. Be ready to explain how you've managed deployments from dev to production without breaking things.
4. Show you can talk to business users: This role requires translating business needs into technical specs. Practice explaining a complex technical concept to a non-technical stakeholder in simple terms.
5. Understand Dataverse deeply: Be ready to discuss data modeling, security roles, and business rules. Know how to design a table structure that scales and is maintainable.
6. Integration is key: They mentioned Dual-write and Azure Functions. If you've done any integration work, highlight it. If not, show you understand the concepts and can learn quickly.
7. Emphasize testing and support: They want someone who owns the full lifecycle, including UAT and post-go-live support. Share examples of how you've debugged issues in production and improved system reliability.
8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about their current Dynamics 365 setup, pain points, and team structure. This shows genuine interest and helps you tailor your answers to their context.
