Field Data Collection: Prove You Can Handle the Ground

This role is about dependable data collection in the field. Hiring managers want to see that you can follow protocols, manage respondents, and deliver clean data under pressure.

    1. Highlight your CAPI experience: If you have used tools like SurveyCTO, ODK, or Kobo Toolbox, mention them explicitly. Show that you can handle digital data collection smoothly.

    2. Show your familiarity with sampling: Describe any experience following sampling protocols, such as household selection or GPS tagging. Concrete examples will set you apart.

    3. Emphasize your language skills: Fluency in English, Kiswahili, and the local language is key. Mention any additional languages you speak.

    4. Prepare for the travel and weekend work: Be ready to discuss your flexibility and willingness to work in different counties and on weekends. Show that you are committed to the fieldwork schedule.

    5. Demonstrate your smartphone proficiency: Since you'll be using CAPI tools, highlight your comfort with smartphones and any relevant apps. You might be asked to demonstrate your skills.

    6. Understand data quality: Emphasize your attention to detail and commitment to submitting clean, complete data. Give examples of how you've ensured accuracy in past work.

    7. Know the ethical standards: Be prepared to talk about respondent consent and confidentiality. Show that you understand the importance of ethical data collection.
