How to Apply: Interested and qualified candidates should apply through the AMSOL website at www.amsol.africa.

Show Your Hands-On Plumbing Track Record

Plumbing roles are won by proof, not promises. Hiring managers at AMSOL will want to see that you've actually fixed leaks, installed meters, and kept commercial systems running. Your CV and interview answers need to show that you can handle the physical and technical demands of this job.

    1. Detail your hands-on experience: On your CV, list specific plumbing tasks you've performed, such as installing pipes, repairing leaks, or maintaining drainage systems. Use numbers where possible, like the number of units serviced or the size of buildings you've worked in. This gives the hiring team concrete evidence of your capability.

    2. Highlight commercial experience: Since experience in commercial buildings is an added advantage, emphasize any work you've done in offices, factories, or institutions. Describe the scale and complexity of those systems, and how you handled them. This shows you can step into AMSOL's environment with minimal ramp-up.

    3. Prepare for technical questions: Expect questions about diagnosing faults, choosing materials, and estimating costs. Review common plumbing scenarios and be ready to explain your troubleshooting process step by step. Practice explaining how you'd handle a burst pipe or a blocked drain in a commercial setting.

    4. Show your safety knowledge: Kenyan safety regulations and building standards are a key part of this role. Brush up on the relevant codes and be ready to discuss how you ensure compliance on the job. Mention any safety training or certifications you have.

    5. Bring your tools and certifications: If you have a Trade Test Certificate or Diploma, make sure your certificates are in order and ready to present. Also, mention any specialized tools you own that could be useful for the role. This shows you're prepared and serious about the job.

    6. Emphasize preventive maintenance: AMSOL wants to minimize plumbing failures, so highlight your experience with preventive maintenance plans. Talk about how you schedule inspections, replace worn parts, and keep records. This demonstrates you think beyond just fixing problems.

    7. Be ready for emergency response: The role requires responding to emergencies within agreed times. Share examples of how you've handled urgent plumbing issues in the past, including how you prioritized and resolved them quickly. This shows you can stay calm under pressure.

    8. Show your reporting skills: You'll need to prepare service reports after every assignment. If you have experience writing reports or documenting your work, mention it. Even if you haven't, talk about how you keep accurate records of your tasks, which is essential for this role.
