Show You Can Keep a Line Moving and Clean

This role is about reliability and pace. Hiring managers for general worker roles in FMCG plants look for people who can follow SOPs, spot quality issues, and keep the line flowing without constant supervision.

    1. Highlight your hands-on experience: On your CV, list any previous factory, warehouse, or production line work, even if it was temporary. Use numbers: how many units you handled, how many hours you stood on your feet, or how many shifts you covered.

    2. Prove your SOP discipline: Mention any training you've had on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, or quality checks. If you've never had formal training, describe how you followed checklists or instructions precisely in past jobs.

    3. Show you can spot defects: In your interview, give a concrete example of a time you noticed something wrong (a damaged product, a dirty area, a machine sound off) and what you did about it. That's the kind of alertness they want.

    4. Emphasize your teamwork: General workers support machine operators and team leaders. Talk about times you helped a colleague meet a deadline or communicated clearly during a shift handover.

    5. Brush up on basic IT: Even though it's 'preferred', being able to use Excel and Word is a plus. If you're not confident, take a free online tutorial before the interview.

    6. Prepare for physical agility questions: They'll want to know you can move quickly between stations, climb steps, and handle repetitive motions. Be ready to describe your physical fitness and any experience with manual work.

    7. Know the FMCG context: Understand that fast-moving consumer goods means high volume, tight deadlines, and strict quality. Show you know what it's like to work in a fast-paced environment.

    8. Ask smart questions: At the end of the interview, ask about the shift patterns, the team size, and what a typical day looks like. This shows you're serious and practical.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
