Architect Your Interview Like a Target State

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technology delivery. Hiring managers will probe how you've translated business goals into architecture roadmaps and governed change across a large group.

    1. Prove you own the roadmap: Be ready to walk through a real enterprise architecture roadmap you built or influenced. Show how you sequenced milestones, handled legacy debt, and got buy-in from business leaders.

    2. Show governance muscle: Expect questions on how you've run change advisory boards or architecture review boards. Have a story about a risky change you blocked or reshaped, and how you communicated that to stakeholders.

    3. Quantify cost impact: This role owns portfolio rationalization and vendor cost reduction. Prepare numbers: how many applications you consolidated, what you saved, or how you reduced technical debt.

    4. Speak cloud and modern stack: They'll test your grasp of cloud, microservices, DevOps, and API banking. Give concrete examples of adoption you drove, even if partial, and the trade-offs you managed.

    5. Demonstrate team leadership: You'll manage architects and support vendors. Have examples of how you've developed your team, set objectives, and delivered through others.

    6. Align with business outcomes: Show you think beyond technology. Talk about how architecture decisions improved customer experience, time-to-market, or regulatory compliance.

    7. Know the banking context: If you have banking or financial services experience, highlight it. If not, show you understand compliance, security, and the pressure of 24/7 systems.

    8. Prepare for case questions: They may give a scenario like 'how would you modernize a legacy core system?' Structure your answer: assess current state, define target, plan migration, manage risks.
