    Master the Housekeeping Audit Trail

Housekeeping supervisors are judged on spotless rooms and smooth operations. Hiring managers for this role will probe how you inspect, document, and train—so bring proof of your systems and standards.

    1. Show your inspection routine: Be ready to walk through how you check guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house. Mention specific checklists or standards you've used, and how you ensure consistency across shifts.

    2. Prove your training impact: Share an example of how you trained staff on cleaning procedures or chemical safety. Quantify results, like reduced complaints or improved inspection scores.

    3. Know your chemicals: Expect questions on handling cleaning agents, dilution ratios, and safety data sheets. Brush up on OSHA or local safety standards and be ready to explain proper storage and PPE use.

    4. Budget basics matter: Even if you've only assisted, understand how to forecast supply needs and control costs. Mention any experience with par stock levels or inventory audits.

    5. Handle complaints with grace: Prepare a story about resolving a guest complaint. Focus on your listening skills, quick action, and follow-up to ensure satisfaction.

    6. Emphasize shift flexibility: This role requires working weekends and holidays. Reassure them of your availability and reliability, and give an example of covering shifts when needed.

    7. Highlight your records: Bring samples of reports or logs you've maintained—cleaning schedules, maintenance requests, or incident reports. Show you can keep accurate, organized documentation.

    8. Ask smart questions: Inquire about the hotel's current housekeeping challenges, team size, and training programs. This shows you're thinking beyond the basics and ready to contribute from day one.
