Show Your Analytical Edge in Digital Finance

This internship sits at the intersection of consulting and digital finance, so hiring managers will be looking for sharp analytical thinking and a genuine interest in payments systems. Your application should demonstrate both your research skills and your understanding of the digital financial landscape.

    1. Tailor your CV to highlight quantitative skills: Emphasize any coursework, projects, or internships where you used data analysis, statistics, or financial modeling. For example, mention a thesis on mobile money adoption or a project analyzing transaction data.

    2. Show your research experience: Be specific about any primary or secondary research you've conducted, such as literature reviews, surveys, or data collection. Describe the tools you used and the insights you derived.

    3. Demonstrate your interest in digital finance: Mention relevant articles, reports, or trends you follow, such as the growth of fintech in Kenya or the impact of mobile payments on financial inclusion. This shows you're genuinely engaged with the field.

    4. Prepare for case-based questions: Consulting interviews often include case studies. Practice structuring your thinking and communicating your analysis clearly. You might be asked to estimate the market size for a new payment service or evaluate a business model.

    5. Highlight your attention to detail: Provide examples of when you caught errors or improved data quality. This is crucial for a role that involves meticulous data analysis.

    6. Show your communication skills: Since you'll be preparing client deliverables, demonstrate your ability to write clearly and present effectively. Share a sample of a report or presentation you've created.

    7. Be ready to discuss your academic record: They value excellent academic performance, so be prepared to talk about your GPA, relevant coursework, and any honors or awards.

    8. Ask thoughtful questions: In the interview, ask about the team's current projects, the tools they use, and opportunities for growth. This shows your initiative and genuine interest in the role.
