Show Strategic Impact in Your Application

This is a top executive role where the board will scrutinize your ability to steer a major energy company. Your application must demonstrate not just experience, but tangible results in strategy execution and governance.

    1. Quantify your leadership impact: In your CV, use numbers to show how you've grown revenue, improved efficiency, or led large teams. For example, 'Increased generation capacity by 20% in 3 years' is more compelling than 'Managed power plants'.

    3. Show stakeholder mastery: This role involves government, regulators, and investors. Provide examples of how you've navigated complex stakeholder landscapes and built strategic partnerships.

    4. Prepare for competency-based questions: Expect questions like 'Tell me about a time you led a major transformation.' Use the STAR method to structure your answers, focusing on your role and the measurable outcome.

    5. Understand the energy sector: Be ready to discuss Kenya's energy landscape, including renewable energy targets, regulatory changes, and the company's role. Show you're not just a manager, but a sector expert.

    6. Emphasize risk management: The posting highlights enterprise risk management. Provide examples of how you've identified and mitigated strategic risks in previous roles.

    7. Showcase your vision: The board wants a visionary leader. In your cover letter or interview, articulate a clear, forward-looking vision for KenGen that aligns with national development priorities.

    8. Align with Chapter Six: Be prepared to demonstrate your integrity and ethical standing, as the role requires meeting the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. This includes leadership, integrity, and good governance.
