    Job Description

Our client is seeking a Marketing & Communications Lead to own and elevate the brand voice and communications strategy across the group and its portfolio of companies. This role will lead marketing efforts across the organization's regional footprint, helping shape how its various brands are positioned individually and as part of the wider business ecosystem across Kenya and other countries of operation. Events are a core part of how our client engages clients and the market, and this role will own event management end-to-end—from initial concept and planning through speaker sourcing, vendor coordination, and on-the-day execution. Dedicated teams already handle functions such as SEO and social media, and this role is responsible for coordinating these functions into one cohesive communications strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both strategic direction and a willingness to execute wherever needed.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute the group's marketing and communications strategy across Kenya and other countries of operation.
    • Own end-to-end event management, from planning and speaker sourcing to vendor coordination, execution, and post-event follow-up.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the marketing team, setting priorities and ensuring consistent delivery.
    • Coordinate and align the work of the SEO and social media teams into a unified communications strategy while stepping in to execute directly when required.
    • Oversee brand positioning and messaging across the group's portfolio, ensuring consistency while respecting each brand's unique identity.
    • Manage content development across digital channels, marketing collateral, and client-facing materials.
    • Collaborate with sales and business unit leaders to align marketing initiatives with commercial objectives.
    • Track and report on marketing performance and event outcomes across channels and regions.
    • Manage relationships with external vendors, agencies, speakers, and media partners.
    • Own the marketing budget and report on campaign and event ROI.

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum 3–4 years of experience leading a marketing team.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders simultaneously.
    • Experience developing marketing strategies and translating them into measurable execution.
    • A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, comfortable both leading a team and executing independently when needed.
    • Experience working across multiple markets or regions.
    • Experience managing marketing across multiple brands or business units under a single parent company.
    • Familiarity with the technology, security, customer experience, or B2B solutions sectors.
    • Experience marketing to clients in healthcare, finance, education, hospitality, or real estate.
    • Budget management experience.

Own the Stage: Event-Led Marketing That Moves the Group

This role is not just about campaigns—it's about orchestrating high-stakes events that put the group's brands in front of clients. Hiring managers will look for someone who can blend strategy with hands-on execution, especially around events and multi-brand coordination.

    1. Show event ownership on your CV: Detail events you've led end-to-end, from concept to post-event follow-up. Quantify outcomes like attendance, leads generated, or client feedback. For example, 'Managed a 200-person industry summit that generated 50 qualified leads.'

    2. Prove multi-brand coordination: Highlight experience managing marketing for multiple brands or business units. Explain how you kept each brand's identity while aligning with the group's overall strategy. Use a specific example of a campaign that balanced both.

    3. Demonstrate budget acumen: Be ready to discuss how you've managed marketing budgets, allocated resources, and measured ROI. Prepare numbers: total budget, spend per channel, and results achieved.

    4. Prepare for stakeholder questions: Expect questions about working with sales, business unit leads, and the CEO. Show you can align marketing with commercial goals and communicate with senior leadership.

    5. Highlight cross-market experience: If you've worked across Kenya and other countries, emphasize that. Discuss how you adapted strategies to different markets and cultural nuances.

    6. Show your hands-on side: This role requires rolling up your sleeves. Give examples of times you stepped in to execute tasks yourself, whether writing content, coordinating vendors, or managing social media.

    7. Know the sectors: Familiarize yourself with technology, security, customer experience, and B2B solutions. Also, understand marketing to healthcare, finance, education, hospitality, or real estate. Tailor your examples to these industries.

    8. Bring a portfolio of work: Prepare a portfolio showing your marketing strategies, event plans, and content samples. Be ready to walk through your decision-making process and results.
