Show You Can Grow an Insurance Agency, Not Just Run It

This role is about building the agency's book, not just processing policies. Hiring managers will probe how you've grown revenue, managed renewals, and handled tough claims — so bring numbers and stories that prove you can deliver on targets.

    1. Quantify your business development wins: On your CV, show specific growth figures — like percentage increase in premiums or number of new clients. If you've launched a new channel or partnership, describe your role and the outcome. Numbers make your impact tangible.

    2. Master the regulatory details: Be ready to discuss IRA guidelines and how you've ensured compliance in underwriting and claims. Mention your COP and IIK membership confidently — they're non-negotiable for this role.

    3. Prepare a renewal strategy story: Retention is key. Think of a time you reduced lapse ratios or improved renewal timelines. Outline the steps you took and the results — this shows you can protect the agency's revenue.

    4. Show your training ability: You'll train staff across branches. Give an example of a training you've led, the materials you created, and how you measured its impact. This proves you can cascade knowledge effectively.

    5. Demonstrate stakeholder management: You'll work with insurers, clients, and internal teams. Prepare a story where you managed a difficult claim or complaint to a win-win resolution. Highlight your negotiation and communication skills.

    6. Bring a 90-day plan: Outline what you'd do in your first three months: assess current processes, meet key stakeholders, and identify quick wins. This shows you're strategic and ready to hit the ground running.

    7. Know the market and competitors: Research the Kenyan insurance landscape — trends, challenges, and opportunities. Be ready to discuss how you'd increase penetration in channels like direct marketing and credit life.

    8. Align with Letshego's mission: Understand Letshego's focus on inclusive finance. Show how your experience can help extend insurance to underserved segments, which is likely a priority for the agency.
