    Show Your Multi-Site Accounting Chops

This role sits at the heart of a fast-moving restaurant group, so your CV and interview answers need to prove you can handle stock, suppliers, and tax across multiple locations without breaking a sweat. Hiring managers will be looking for hands-on QuickBooks skills and a solid grip on Kenyan tax rules, not just theory.

    1. Tailor your CV to multi-site operations: Highlight any experience managing accounts for more than one location, especially in hospitality or retail. Use numbers to show the scale you handled, like number of outlets, monthly transaction volumes, or stock value managed.

    2. Prove your QuickBooks Online mastery: Be ready to walk through how you use QuickBooks for reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close. Mention specific features you've used, like bank feeds, inventory tracking, or VAT return preparation.

    3. Brush up on Kenyan tax specifics: Expect questions on VAT return preparation, withholding tax rates, and iTax reconciliations. Review the latest KRA guidelines and be prepared to explain how you've handled discrepancies in the past.

    4. Show your stock control wins: Share a concrete example where you improved stock accuracy or reduced shrinkage. Talk about how you conducted stocktakes, investigated variances, and worked with operations to tighten controls.

    5. Prepare for scenario questions on cash reconciliation: You'll likely be asked how you'd handle a mismatch between POS reports and bank deposits. Walk through your process step by step, emphasizing your attention to detail and follow-through.

    6. Demonstrate your supervisory potential: Even though it's a junior role, you'll oversee a stock controller. Give an example of how you've guided or trained someone, even informally, to improve their performance.

    7. Know the hospitality cost drivers: Understand the unique cost pressures in restaurants, like food waste, supplier pricing, and delivery aggregator fees. Show that you can think beyond the numbers to help manage profitability.

    8. Ask smart questions about their systems: In the interview, ask about their current accounting software, stock management tools, and reporting cadence. This shows you're practical and ready to hit the ground running.
