Master the Art of Sales Support in a Fast-Paced Environment

Sales administrators are the backbone of a smooth-running sales team. Hiring managers look for candidates who can juggle customer queries, inventory updates, and reporting without dropping the ball. Here's how to show you're that person.

    1. Showcase your CRM or ERP experience: Even if you've only used it briefly, highlight any exposure to CRM or ERP systems on your CV. Mention specific tasks like logging customer interactions or generating reports. This signals you can hit the ground running.

    2. Prove your organisational skills with examples: Don't just say you're organised. Describe a time you managed multiple customer accounts, tracked inventory, or coordinated sales documents. Use numbers if possible, like 'handled 50+ customer enquiries daily'.

    3. Demonstrate your customer service mindset: Prepare a story about a difficult customer you turned around or a time you went the extra mile. Sales support roles thrive on keeping customers happy, so show you understand that.

    4. Highlight your Microsoft Office proficiency: Be specific about which Excel functions you know (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and how you've used Word and Outlook for reporting and communication. This is a common screening point.

    5. Show you can multitask under pressure: Sales environments are fast-paced. Give an example of how you prioritised tasks during a busy period, like handling phone calls while updating records. Emphasise calmness and accuracy.

    6. Tailor your CV to the sales context: Use keywords from the job description like 'sales reports', 'inventory schedules', and 'customer account maintenance'. This helps you pass automated filters and shows you read the posting.

    7. Prepare for common interview questions: Expect questions like 'How do you handle a customer complaint?' or 'Describe a time you made a mistake in data entry.' Have structured answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

    8. Research STENGOLD LIMITED: Before the interview, learn about their products, industry, and company culture. Mentioning specific details shows genuine interest and helps you tailor your answers to their needs.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
