Show You Can Sell Both Online and Offline

This role demands a hybrid hunter: someone who can work a room at a roadshow and also run a targeted LinkedIn campaign. Hiring managers will be looking for evidence you can manage a pipeline and hit targets across both channels.

    1. Quantify your wins: On your CV, use numbers to show the size of the markets you've penetrated, the number of leads you've converted, or the percentage growth you've driven. For example, 'Increased lead conversion by 30% in six months' is far stronger than 'responsible for lead conversion'.

    2. Prepare a mini-campaign pitch: Be ready to walk the interviewer through a real or hypothetical marketing campaign you'd run for their product. Outline your target audience, channels, budget, and how you'd measure success. This shows strategic thinking beyond just 'posting on social media'.

    3. Demonstrate CRM fluency: Even if you haven't used a specific tool, show you understand the logic of tracking leads, stages, and conversion. Mention any CRM you've used (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and how you used it to prioritize follow-ups.

    4. Show resilience with stories: Sales is full of rejection. Have a story ready about a tough sales call or a lost deal that you turned around. Highlight what you learned and how you adjusted your approach.

    5. Know the local market: This role involves community penetration in Nairobi estates. Research the company's target areas and come with ideas on how you'd build relationships there. Show you understand the local culture and buying habits.

    6. Practice your pitch: You'll likely be asked to sell something on the spot. Practice a clear, persuasive pitch for a product or service you know well. Focus on benefits, not features, and handle objections smoothly.

    7. Highlight your digital skills: Even if the job is on-site, online marketing is a core part. Mention any experience with social media ads, email marketing tools, or analytics. If you've run a personal blog or small business page, that counts.

    8. Ask smart questions: At the end of the interview, ask about the sales targets, the marketing budget, or the tools they use. This shows you're serious about the role and thinking about how you'll succeed in it.
