Own the Shelf, Own the Story

This role is about more than moving product—it's about making MAMLO FOODS the brand people remember at every market, shop, and event. Hiring managers will look for someone who can turn a casual chat into a sale and a sale into a loyal customer.

    1. Show your hustle in your CV: Use numbers to show what you achieved in past sales roles—how many customers you engaged daily, how much stock you moved, or how you grew a customer base. Even small metrics beat vague claims.

    2. Prepare for the 'why food' question: Be ready to explain why you're drawn to the food and FMCG space. Mention any experience with local products, farmers' markets, or community selling—it shows you understand the terrain.

    3. Brush up on POS and spreadsheets: You'll be expected to handle transactions and track sales. Practice using Excel or Google Sheets for simple stock records, and be ready to talk about how you've used POS systems before.

    4. Think like a brand ambassador: This role is about representing MAMLO FOODS. Prepare a short pitch about the brand—what makes it unique, why you'd be proud to represent it, and how you'd engage a customer at a market stall.

    5. Know your community: Since the role involves grassroots marketing and possibly working with women's groups, research the local area and think about how you'd connect with community networks. Show you understand the local customer.

    6. Practice your customer interaction: Expect a role-play or scenario where you have to sell a product to a hesitant customer. Practice active listening, handling objections, and closing a sale naturally.

    7. Highlight your adaptability: You'll work across retail, pop-ups, markets, and digital platforms. Give examples of times you've switched between different sales environments or learned new tools quickly.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the team's current sales channels, what a typical day looks like, and how success is measured. It shows you're thinking about the role's impact.
