Master the Art of In-Store Selling

This role is all about getting your products into bars, restaurants, and supermarkets and making sure they move. Hiring managers will look for someone who can show they know how to win shelf space and drive repeat orders.

    1. Prove you know the trade: On your CV, highlight any experience you have with FMCG or beverage sales. Mention specific outlets you've handled, like bars or supermarkets, and any sales growth you achieved.

    2. Show your route planning skills: Sales reps in this field often manage territories. Describe how you plan your visits to maximize coverage and minimize travel time.

    3. Talk about merchandising: Be ready to explain how you ensure product visibility and availability. Give examples of how you've set up displays or handled stock rotation.

    4. Demonstrate negotiation: You'll need to negotiate with outlet owners and managers. Share a story where you successfully closed a deal or got better shelf placement.

    5. Highlight your target-driven mindset: This job is about hitting monthly targets. Show that you're comfortable with numbers and can track your performance.

    6. Prepare for role-play: Some interviews include a mock sales call. Practice your pitch and be ready to handle objections.

    7. Know the market: Research the local beverage and FMCG market in Nairobi. Be ready to discuss trends and competitor activity.

    8. Emphasize teamwork: While you'll work independently, you'll also coordinate with the team. Give examples of how you've collaborated with others to achieve a goal.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
