Master Territory Sales: From Cold Calls to Repeat Orders

This role is all about owning your patch and growing revenue in bars, restaurants, and retail outlets. Hiring managers will look for hustle, relationship skills, and a track record of hitting targets in FMCG or beverages.

    1. Quantify your wins: On your CV, show numbers: how much you grew sales, how many new accounts you opened, or how you beat monthly targets. For example, 'Increased territory sales by 20% in six months.'

    2. Know your outlets: Research the bars, restaurants, and supermarkets in your target area. Understand their buying patterns and what they stock. This shows you're serious about the territory.

    3. Prepare a 30-60-90 day plan: Outline how you'll assess the territory, build relationships, and hit early targets. This shows you're strategic, not just a closer.

    4. Practice your pitch: Be ready to explain how you'd approach a new outlet, handle objections, and close a deal. Use a real example from your past experience.

    5. Show you can manage collections: Sales isn't just about orders; it's about getting paid. Talk about how you've managed credit and collections in previous roles.

    6. Highlight your driving skills: If you have a valid licence, mention it clearly. It's a practical advantage for covering a wide territory.

    7. Demonstrate merchandising know-how: Talk about how you've ensured product visibility, arranged displays, or executed promotions. This shows you understand the in-store game.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the territory size, current challenges, and what success looks like in the first six months. It shows you're thinking beyond the job description.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
