    Additional Information

How to Apply: Send your CV and application letter showing how you meet the role requirement stated above to Recruitment@nationalbank.co.ke by Thursday 27th August 2026. Indicate Name of Job on email subject.

Master the FX Screen Before You Walk In

This role lives and dies by your ability to quote, hedge, and read the market in real time. Hiring managers will probe your dealing room instincts, your grasp of Islamic finance structures, and how you've grown revenue in past roles.

    1. Show your dealing room numbers: On your CV, quantify your trading volumes, P&L contribution, and client conversion rates. For example, 'grew FX revenue by 20% year-on-year' or 'managed a book of $50M'. Concrete numbers beat vague claims.

    2. Prove your ACI certification is current: If you hold the ACI Dealing Certificate, list it prominently. If it's expired, mention your renewal plan. This certification is a hard screen for many treasury desks.

    3. Prepare for a technical grilling: Expect questions on spot, forwards, swaps, and how you'd quote a client in a volatile market. Practice calculating cross rates and understanding margin calls.

    4. Understand Islamic finance nuances: Since the role involves Islamic Banking forex deals, brush up on Sharia-compliant hedging instruments like Murabaha and Salam. Show you can structure deals that meet both client needs and compliance.

    5. Highlight your risk management mindset: Talk about how you've managed limits, monitored exposure, and avoided losses. Give a specific example of a time you averted a risky trade.

    6. Show you can handle pressure: Dealing rooms are fast-paced. Share a story of a high-stress trading day and how you stayed calm and made sound decisions.

    7. Demonstrate stakeholder savvy: This role works with sales, ALM, and regulators. Give examples of how you've built relationships across departments to drive revenue.

    8. Be ready to discuss market trends: Walk in with a view on current FX movements and how they affect the bank's portfolio. Show you're plugged into global and local news.
