    • Design and standardize preventive maintenance schedules for all critical equipment; target 80:20 planned-to-unplanned maintenance ratio within 12 months
    • Own the cross-factory spare parts strategy: set minimum stock levels, manage replenishment, and prevent stockouts on critical items
    • Establish RCA processes for major failures; track corrective actions to closure and use findings to improve PM plans
    • Troubleshoot complex equipment failures directly, providing on-the-spot technical interventions when maintenance staff or vendors are unavailable.

    • Design and deliver TPM autonomous maintenance training for machine operators cleaning, lubrication, basic checks
    • Coach and assess technicians and operators on maintenance standards; conduct monthly team reviews with factory leads
    • Oversee maintenance-related vendor relationships and manage associated service contracts in partnership with the Procurement team

    • Ensure correct specifications listed for machines, spare parts and consumables requested by all factory teams
    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safe systems of work: permit to work, LOTO, confined space, and relevant Kenyan regulatory requirements KEBS, DOSH, NEMA
    • Maintain HACCP-required equipment records for food-contact assets; lead the maintenance function's contribution to food safety audits
    • Champion a zero-harm safety culture; conduct regular safety walks and close out hazard reports

Show CMMS and TPM Mastery Before You Walk Into the Interview

This role is about cutting downtime and building a maintenance culture across three factories. Hiring managers will probe how you've implemented CMMS, driven planned maintenance ratios, and handled food-safety compliance. Bring proof, not promises.

    1. Quantify your maintenance wins: On your CV, show numbers: downtime reduced, planned maintenance ratio achieved, stockouts avoided. For example, 'Cut unplanned downtime by 30% in 12 months' beats 'responsible for maintenance.'

    2. Know your CMMS inside out: Be ready to discuss how you set up equipment hierarchies, PM job plans, and work order lifecycles. If you've used specific systems like SAP PM or Fiix, mention them. Walk through a real implementation step by step.

    3. Prepare for RCA and safety questions: Expect scenarios on root cause analysis and safety compliance. Have a story about a major failure you solved using RCA, and how you handled LOTO or permit-to-work. Mention OSHA and DOSH familiarity.

    4. Show food safety awareness: Since the role involves HACCP and food-contact equipment, brush up on HACCP principles. Give an example of how you maintained records for audits or ensured equipment met food safety standards.

    5. Demonstrate leadership and mentoring: You'll lead a team and train operators. Prepare examples of how you've coached technicians, built competency frameworks, or transitioned maintenance ownership. Show you can elevate others.

    6. Understand the industry context: This is agro-processing—avocado oil, macadamia, biochar. Research these processes and common equipment. If you have relevant experience, highlight it; if not, show you've done your homework.

    7. Align with company mission: One Acre Fund focuses on smallholder farmers. Connect your work to their mission: reliable equipment means more processed goods, less waste, and better farmer incomes. Show you care about impact.

    8. Ask sharp questions: Prepare questions about the factories, current maintenance challenges, and team structure. Ask about the 80:20 target and how they measure success. It shows you're already thinking like their lead.
