Show Your PLC and Smart Metering Chops

This role sits at the intersection of industrial automation and smart water metering. Hiring managers will look for hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and AMI platforms, plus a knack for troubleshooting under real-world conditions.

    1. Tailor your CV to automation and metering: Highlight specific PLC brands, HMI models, and AMI systems you've worked with. Use concrete examples of fault-finding and preventive maintenance you've led.

    2. Prepare a troubleshooting story: Be ready to walk through a time you diagnosed and fixed a complex automation fault. Explain your systematic approach and the tools you used.

    3. Show your documentation discipline: Emphasize your experience maintaining asset registers, maintenance logs, and as-built records. Mention any audits you've supported.

    4. Understand the water utility context: Research common challenges in water metering, such as tampering and data discrepancies. Show you know how AMI platforms help optimize networks.

    5. Brush up on safety and standards: Expect questions on how you ensure compliance with regulations and environmental standards. Cite specific safety protocols you've followed.

    6. Demonstrate teamwork with engineers: This role involves working with engineers to improve processes. Prepare examples of collaborative projects where you contributed technical insights.

    7. Be ready for practical tests: Some interviews include hands-on assessments. Practice reading schematics, using multimeters, and programming basic PLC logic.

    8. Ask smart questions: Inquire about the AMI platform they use, the scale of the metering network, and how the team handles peak maintenance loads. This shows genuine interest.
