Master the Art of Closing Car Sales

This role is all about converting leads into sales while keeping customers happy. Hiring managers will look for a track record of hitting targets and handling the paperwork without errors.

    1. Prove your sales numbers: On your CV, quantify your achievements—how many cars did you sell per month, what was your conversion rate, and how did you exceed targets? Use concrete figures to show you can deliver.

    2. Know your vehicle documentation: Be ready to discuss your familiarity with logbooks, transfer forms, and financing agreements. A quick error in paperwork can cost the company money, so highlight your attention to detail.

    3. Show you can use CRM tools: Many sales roles require daily updates in a CRM. Mention specific systems you've used (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and how you used them to track leads and follow up.

    4. Prepare for negotiation scenarios: Expect interview questions like 'How would you handle a customer who wants a discount?' Practice a response that balances customer satisfaction with company profitability.

    5. Demonstrate customer service skills: Share a story where you went above and beyond for a customer, leading to a referral or repeat business. This shows you understand the value of relationships.

    6. Be ready to discuss your target-driven mindset: Give examples of how you've motivated yourself to meet sales quotas, even during slow periods. Talk about your strategies for generating leads.

    7. Understand the local market: Research the Kiambu car market and common customer preferences. Mentioning local trends in the interview shows you're proactive and serious about the role.

    8. Ask smart questions: At the end of the interview, ask about the yard's current inventory, sales targets, and team culture. This shows genuine interest and helps you decide if it's the right fit.
