Master the Client Conversation Before You Pitch

Insurance sales in Kenya is about trust and clarity. Hiring managers for this role will probe how you explain complex policies simply and how you handle objections without pressure tactics.

    1. Show your ECOP/COP credential upfront: Put your qualification in the top third of your CV and mention it in your cover letter. This is a mandatory filter, so make it impossible to miss.

    2. Prove you can build long-term relationships: Give a concrete example of a client you retained or upsold over time. Mention how you kept records and followed up.

    3. Prepare for regulatory questions: Since law enforcement experience is advantageous, be ready to discuss how you ensure compliance in your sales process. Even if you don't have that background, show you understand the importance of evidence and documentation.

    4. Quantify your sales results: If you have met targets before, say so with numbers. For example, 'Exceeded monthly premium targets by 20% for six consecutive months.'

    5. Practice your negotiation pitch: You'll be asked how you handle a client who wants a cheaper policy. Prepare a response that balances cost with coverage value.

    6. Highlight your problem-solving skills: Share a story where you resolved a client complaint or navigated a tricky renewal. Show you can think on your feet.

    7. Research ICEA Lion's products: Before the interview, visit their website and know their main insurance lines. Mention one or two products you're excited to sell.

    8. Dress and speak like a financial adviser: This is a client-facing role, so professionalism matters. Bring a clean copy of your CV and any certificates.

CareerSasa Safety Alert: Never pay employers or agencies for interviews, training, or job placement. Does a job request payment? Report it immediately using the "Flag" button. While CareerSasa vets job postings thoroughly, always verify opportunities independently.
