    Show Your Grounds-Keeping Chops

This role is about keeping a field station tidy and safe. Hiring managers want someone who can handle a mower, keep records, and work without constant supervision. Show them you've done this before.

    1. Highlight hands-on experience: On your CV, list any previous grounds maintenance, cleaning, or facility support roles. Mention specific equipment you've used, like mowers or strimmers. If you've kept maintenance logs, say so.

    2. Prove your record-keeping: This job requires tracking maintenance and inspections. Give an example of a time you kept accurate records, whether for equipment, supplies, or security checks. Show you're organized.

    3. Show you can work solo: The posting stresses working without supervision. Talk about a time you managed tasks independently, like completing a maintenance round or handling an issue on your own.

    4. Emphasize teamwork: You'll also work with others. Mention any experience collaborating with colleagues or coordinating with security personnel. Show you can communicate and escalate issues properly.

    5. Prepare for practical questions: Expect to be asked how you'd handle a specific maintenance task or security concern. Think through scenarios like a broken mower or a security breach. Have a clear, step-by-step answer.

    6. Know the basics of safety: Grounds work involves equipment and potential hazards. Be ready to talk about safety practices, like wearing protective gear or following protocols. This shows you're responsible.

    7. Show flexibility: The role may involve occasional field research support. Mention any willingness to learn or adapt. Highlight any experience with research or outdoor work.

    8. Polish your CV for the role: Tailor your CV to emphasize relevant skills: grounds maintenance, cleaning, record-keeping, and security coordination. Use keywords from the job description. Keep it to one page if possible.
