Show You Can Handle Donor-Funded Finance

This role sits at the intersection of accounting precision and donor compliance. Hiring managers will look for proof you can keep records audit-ready and follow strict budget rules.

    1. Master the basics of SAP Business One: Even if you haven't used it, show you can learn fast. Mention any ERP exposure and how you'd approach recording transactions accurately. If you've used similar systems, highlight that.

    2. Prepare for donor compliance questions: Donor-funded projects have strict rules. Review common requirements like eligibility of costs, documentation, and reporting. Be ready to discuss how you'd ensure compliance.

    3. Highlight your ACCA/CPA progress: You've passed level two – that's a strong signal. Emphasize the relevant coursework and how it applies to real-world accounting tasks like reconciliations and audits.

    4. Show organizational skills with examples: This role juggles multiple tasks. Give a concrete example from school or work where you managed several deadlines without dropping the ball.

    5. Practice explaining your integrity: Finance roles demand trust. Prepare a story that shows you handled sensitive information responsibly or flagged an error when you found one.

    6. Get comfortable with audit prep: Auditors need clean documentation. Talk about how you'd organize files, double-check numbers, and support the team during an audit.

    7. Brush up on procurement basics: Even if it's not your main focus, understanding procurement records and procedures shows you're a team player. Mention any coursework or exposure.

    8. Tailor your CV to the role: Use keywords from the posting like 'SAP Business One', 'reconciliation', 'donor funding', and 'compliance'. Make it easy for the hiring manager to see you fit.
