Show You Can Run Fleet Operations Like a Tight Ship

This role is about balancing operational efficiency with administrative discipline. Hiring managers will look for evidence that you can manage vehicles, people, and paperwork without letting any ball drop.

    1. Quantify your fleet experience: On your CV, use numbers to show the size of fleets you've managed, utilization rates you've improved, or downtime you've reduced. For example, 'Managed a fleet of 50 trucks and improved utilization by 15% in one year.'

    2. Highlight your administrative oversight: Emphasize your experience with record keeping, SOP compliance, and document management. Mention specific systems you've used, like ERP or fleet management software.

    3. Prepare a safety-first narrative: Be ready to discuss how you've promoted HSSEQ standards in past roles. Give a concrete example of a safety initiative you led or a risk you mitigated.

    4. Show your people management style: Since you'll supervise a team, talk about how you've coached and mentored staff. Use the STAR method to describe a time you improved team performance.

    5. Know your KPIs: Be prepared to discuss the KPIs you've monitored in previous roles, such as fuel consumption, maintenance costs, or on-time delivery rates. Show how you used data to drive decisions.

    6. Understand the transport landscape: Familiarize yourself with current challenges in Kenyan logistics, like fuel prices, traffic congestion, or regulatory changes. Mentioning these shows you're plugged in.

    7. Communicate your reporting skills: This role requires preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Highlight your ability to create clear, concise management reports and presentations.

    8. Align with company values: AGL values operational excellence and continuous improvement. Share examples of process improvements you've implemented and the results they achieved.
