Master the PDI Checklist Before You Apply

This role is all about precision and process adherence. Hiring managers will look for someone who can follow SOPs to the letter and spot defects that others miss.

    1. Show your hands-on experience: On your CV, highlight any previous roles where you performed inspections, diagnostics, or servicing of vehicles. Use numbers: how many vehicles per day, what types of vehicles, and any specific tools you used.

    2. Know the PDI process inside out: Research standard pre-delivery inspection procedures and be ready to discuss them in the interview. Mention specific checkpoints like fluid levels, tire condition, electrical systems, and road test protocols.

    3. Emphasize your diagnostic skills: Be prepared to explain how you troubleshoot mechanical issues. Give an example of a time you identified a problem that others missed and how you resolved it.

    4. Highlight your attention to detail: In a PDI role, missing a small defect can lead to customer complaints. Provide an example where your meticulousness prevented an issue.

    5. Familiarize yourself with VITS or similar systems: Since the job mentions updating an operational system, show that you are comfortable with digital record-keeping. If you have used any inventory or maintenance software, mention it.

    6. Prepare for practical questions: Expect to be asked how you would handle a specific inspection scenario. Think through your steps logically and mention safety checks.

    7. Show your commitment to quality: The job emphasizes 100% ok PDI before release. Talk about your pride in delivering quality work and your willingness to double-check your own work.

    8. Ask smart questions: In the interview, ask about the team size, the volume of vehicles handled, and the tools available. This shows you are genuinely interested in the operational side of the role.
