Prove You Can Build and Drive a Sales Unit
This role is about leading a team of Financial Advisors to hit ambitious targets. Hiring managers will look for evidence that you can recruit, train, and motivate a sales force while keeping persistency ratios healthy.
1. Show your numbers: On your CV, quantify your sales achievements: premiums written, policies sold, team size, and retention rates. Use concrete figures to demonstrate your impact.
2. Highlight recruitment skills: Since you'll be sourcing and training advisors, emphasize any experience you have in hiring, onboarding, or developing sales talent. Mention specific training programs you've run.
3. Understand insurance KPIs: Be ready to discuss persistency ratios, annualized premium, and policy counts. Show you know how these metrics drive profitability and what you've done to improve them.
4. Prepare for stakeholder questions: You'll need to build relationships with corporate entities and check-off institutions. Think of examples where you've successfully partnered with external organizations to open sales channels.
5. Know the regulatory landscape: Familiarize yourself with IRA requirements and insurance certifications. Highlight your current registration and any COP or Diploma in Insurance.
6. Show leadership style: Expect questions on how you motivate and supervise a team. Prepare stories that illustrate your coaching approach and how you've turned around underperformers.
7. Be ready for a practical test: Some interviews include a case study or role-play on setting KPIs or handling a sales meeting. Practice structuring a clear, actionable plan.
8. Emphasize your fit for Meru: If you know the region's market, mention it. Local knowledge can be a differentiator, showing you can hit the ground running.
