Master the Art of Fare Quoting and Upselling

This role is the frontline of Jambojet's revenue. Hiring managers will probe your ability to quote fares accurately, handle bookings swiftly, and turn customer interactions into sales opportunities. Show them you can balance speed with precision and keep the customer smiling.

    1. Showcase your ticketing knowledge: On your CV, highlight any experience with airline reservation systems (like Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo) and your familiarity with fare rules and ticketing procedures. If you have IATA/UFTAA certification, make it prominent. Even if you're a fresh graduate, list any relevant coursework or projects.

    2. Prove your sales instinct: Sales targets are a core part of this role. Prepare examples of how you've upsold or cross-sold in previous jobs, even if not in aviation. Quantify your achievements, like 'increased sales by 15% through proactive upselling'. Show you understand the importance of meeting and exceeding targets.

    3. Prepare for customer service scenarios: Expect questions about handling difficult customers, complaints, and refunds. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. Emphasize your ability to remain calm, empathetic, and solution-oriented under pressure.

    4. Highlight your accuracy and attention to detail: Fare errors and booking mistakes can be costly. Provide examples of how you've maintained accuracy in previous roles, such as reconciling daily sales or managing records. Mention your commitment to zero errors and your methodical approach.

    5. Show you're a team player: This role involves collaborating with other departments to ensure a seamless travel experience. Give examples of times you've worked effectively in a team, supported colleagues, or contributed to a positive work environment. Emphasize your communication skills.

    6. Understand Jambojet's brand and market: Research Jambojet's routes, pricing strategy, and target customers. Show you understand the low-cost carrier model and how your role contributes to revenue and customer loyalty. Mention any ideas you have for improving customer experience or sales.

    7. Be ready to discuss your flexibility: Airline operations can be dynamic, with shifts, weekends, and holidays. Reassure the interviewer of your flexibility and willingness to work varied hours. Highlight any previous experience with shift work or demanding schedules.

    8. Prepare thoughtful questions: Ask about the team culture, training programs, and opportunities for growth within Jambojet. This shows your genuine interest in the role and your long-term commitment. Avoid questions about salary and benefits in the first interview.
