Showroom Sales: From Drawings to Closing

This role blends design fluency with sales grit. Hiring managers will probe how well you read architectural drawings, recommend finishes, and turn a walk-in into a loyal client.

    1. Master the product range: Before you walk in, research classic mouldings and wall finishes. Know the difference between profiles, materials, and finishes. Be ready to explain why one product suits a modern loft over a colonial home.

    2. Read drawings like a pro: Practice interpreting floor plans and elevations. You'll be asked to spot where mouldings go and which profiles fit. Bring a sample drawing you've annotated to show your skill.

    3. Prepare a sales pitch: Have a crisp 60-second pitch for a premium moulding line. Focus on value, durability, and aesthetic impact. Rehearse it until it sounds natural.

    4. Show you can build relationships: Share examples of how you've nurtured repeat business with architects or contractors. Mention how you follow up after a sale to ensure satisfaction.

    5. Quantify your sales record: Bring numbers to the interview. If you exceeded targets, say by how much. If you grew a client list, state the percentage increase.

    6. Understand the client's budget: Be ready to discuss how you balance design dreams with budget realities. Give an example of a time you offered a cost-effective alternative that still wowed the client.

    7. Show teamwork with QS and stores: Explain how you coordinate with quantity surveyors and warehouse teams to ensure accurate quotes and timely deliveries. Mention any experience with order processing systems.

    8. Prepare for role-play: Expect a mock client interaction. Practice active listening, asking open-ended questions, and closing with a clear next step. Keep it warm and consultative.
