Master the Technical Pitch for Solar Sales

In solar sales, your ability to explain technical specs in plain language can make or break a deal. Hiring managers will probe how well you translate inverter and battery specs into customer value. Show them you can handle both the technical and the commercial side.

    1. Prove your technical fluency: On your CV, list specific solar products you've sold or worked with, like inverter models or battery types. Be ready to explain their key specs and benefits in an interview.

    2. Show your sales track record: Quantify your achievements, e.g., 'Increased sales by 20% in six months' or 'Managed 30+ distributor accounts'. Numbers speak louder than vague claims.

    3. Prepare for a technical test: Some employers ask you to walk through a solar system design or troubleshoot a common issue. Review basics like system sizing, panel-inverter matching, and battery storage.

    4. Highlight your customer relationships: Solar sales relies on trust. Give examples of how you've built long-term relationships with clients or distributors.

    5. Know the Kenyan market: Be aware of the growing demand for solar in Kenya, especially in off-grid areas. Mention any experience with local distributors or projects.

    6. Practice your negotiation pitch: You'll need to negotiate prices and terms. Prepare a few scenarios where you've successfully closed deals or handled objections.

    7. Show your self-motivation: Since the role is target-oriented, share how you've set and achieved your own sales goals in the past.

    8. Polish your English communication: As the job requires good English, ensure your CV and interview responses are clear and confident. Practice explaining technical terms in simple English.
