Show Campaign ROI Before You Walk Into the Interview

Digital marketing coordinators at Tupande need to prove they can turn ad spend into farmer conversions. Hiring managers will probe your ability to manage paid campaigns across Meta and Google while keeping a creative eye on content. Here's how to prepare.

    1. Lead with numbers on your CV: List specific campaign results—cost per lead, click-through rates, or conversion percentages. For example, 'Managed Meta Ads with a 3.5% CTR and reduced CPA by 20% over three months.' Quantified wins stand out more than generic claims.

    2. Show you know Kenyan social media behaviour: Mention regional insights in your cover letter or interview. Talk about how content for rural farmers differs from urban audiences, and how you've adapted messaging or ad formats accordingly. This proves you understand the market.

    3. Prepare a stepback report sample: Bring a one-page analysis of a past campaign—what worked, what didn't, and what you changed. Use bullet points and a simple chart. This mirrors the reporting duty in the role and shows analytical discipline.

    4. Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration: Share an example where you worked with designers, field teams, or external partners to align content with a calendar. Highlight how you managed feedback loops and deadlines without friction.

    5. Get comfortable with Meta Business Suite and Google Ads: Be ready to walk through your process for setting up a campaign, targeting audiences, and A/B testing creatives. Interviewers may ask scenario-based questions like 'How would you optimize a low-performing ad set?'

    6. Show you track more than vanity metrics: Explain how you connect ad metrics to business goals—like leads generated or farmer sign-ups. Mention SROI (social return on investment) if you've measured it, as the role values both ROI and SROI.

    7. Prepare a content pillar idea: Think of one organic content theme for Tupande's social media that aligns with the agricultural calendar—e.g., planting season tips or harvest stories. Outline how you'd execute it with field teams and measure engagement.

    8. Ask about the tools and reporting cadence: In your interview, ask how often stepback reports are shared and what dashboards the team uses. This shows you're already thinking about how to fit into their workflow and improve it.
