How to Apply: Interested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Equity Bank Kenya career portal at https://equitybank.taleo.net.

    Master the Institutional Sales Conversation

This role sits at the intersection of capital markets and client relationships. Hiring managers will probe how you've originated institutional mandates, handled RFPs, and navigated regulatory complexity. Show them you can speak the language of pension funds and asset managers fluently.

    1. Quantify your pipeline wins: On your CV, list specific deals you've closed, the asset values involved, and how you grew relationships. For example, "Grew custody assets by 20% in two years by converting three pension fund mandates." Numbers make your track record tangible.

    2. Show regulatory fluency: Custody sales demand a solid grasp of CMA rules, CSD operations, and client due diligence. Mention any experience with compliance reviews or regulatory audits. If you've worked with regulators like the CMA or CBK, highlight that.

    3. Prepare a mini RFP response: You may be asked to walk through how you'd respond to a Request for Proposal. Have a clear structure: client needs, your solution, pricing, and risk mitigation. Practice articulating your approach concisely.

    4. Demonstrate cross-selling instincts: This role expects you to spot opportunities beyond custody. Think about how you'd link custody clients to treasury, corporate banking, or investment banking products. Prepare examples of cross-selling from your past.

    5. Know the competitive landscape: Research major custody providers in Kenya and the region. Be ready to discuss their strengths and weaknesses, and how you'd position Equity Bank's offering against them.

    6. Show stakeholder management skills: You'll work with internal teams like operations, compliance, and legal. Give examples of how you've coordinated across departments to deliver a seamless client experience.

    7. Highlight your network: Institutional sales thrives on relationships. Mention any existing contacts in pension funds, asset management, or insurance. If you've represented a firm at industry events, say so.

    8. Be ready for behavioral questions: Expect questions like "Tell me about a time you turned around a difficult client relationship." Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers with concrete outcomes.
